On September 19, Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 2441 into law. This bill, sponsored by Assemblymember Jim Frazier, secures a necessary ongoing source of funding for the removal of commercial vessels that have been abandoned or left derelict in the Sacramento-San Joaquin
Delta. Abandoned vessels and the issues related to them are key topics of discussion and advocacy for Bay Planning Coalition’s Marinas & Boatyards Committee. The committee worked together to develop a support letter for the bill that was sent to Assemblymember Frazier on August 3rd. It met again this week to hear a presentation by Beth A. Pollard, Executive Director of the Richardson’s Bay Regional Agency, on the situation in Richardson’s Bay and the work of her organization.
