Please join Bay Planning Coalition’s Expert Briefing on Sea Level Rise on May 1st from 9:00am -11:00am via Zoom Webinar. The focus of this expert briefing is to explore how the state can help our region fund shoreline adaptation projects and support local jurisdictions’ sea level rise planning efforts.
Speakers include:
- California State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, who will discuss funding mechanisms the state is exploring to increase California’s resilience against climate change and related natural disasters.
- Rachel Ehlers, Principal Fiscal & Policy Analyst, Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO), who will present on the recently released Preparing for Rising Seas report that assessed how the state can support local sea level rise adaptation efforts by helping to plan, design, and implement adaptation projects.
- Larry Goldzband (Executive Director) and Dana Brechwald (Adapting to Rising Tides Program Manager), San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, will report on ongoing stakeholder engagement effort to prepare to finance planning and implementation of sea level rise projects in the Bay Area
