BCDC is hiring our first Environmental Justice and Community Outreach Specialist! Please help us spread the word widely about this exciting new role.
To help implement equitable shoreline planning and permitting along the San Francisco Bay shoreline, BCDC is seeking a passionate and self-directed individual with experience in environmental justice and social equity, community engagement, and natural resources management to join our Planning Unit. Under supervision of the Planning Director, the Environmental Justice and Community Outreach Specialist will act as BCDC’s primary liaison with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, and develop and implement new programs related to facilitate more meaningful engagement with communities affected by BCDC’s permitting and planning activities. S/he will also assist with BCDC’s sea level rise adaptation planning and related community engagement activities. Finally, the Environmental Justice and Community Outreach Specialist will aid BCDC as it develops and implements digital communication strategies and meeting accessibility improvements for the department, with a focus on improved communication with vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, key stakeholders, the general public, and the media. The staff person will lead BCDC’s tribal affairs and consultation.
