Following the Trump Administration’s move to roll back protections of wetlands, BPC has been actively engaged in a statewide coalition to influence the development of a balanced definition of wetlands in California to find a workable solution for the millions of acres of wetlands, vernal pools, and waterways that are subject to federal regulation. The California State Water Resources Control Board has been working on new rules to guard the wetlands, and was scheduled to consider the program for adoption next month. However, the agency has pushed back the final consideration to April 2, and will be holding another workshop on March 5 to review the proposed policy changes. Following the decision in early April, BPC will host an Expert Briefing to educate our members on the implications of these policy changes.
