Thought-provoking panelists join the CASA conference
|

On Thursday afternoon, State Water Board member Dee Dee D’Adamo will join Adam Krantz, National Association of Clean Water Agencies’ new Chief Executive Officer, along with Alex Johnson of the Freshwater Trust and Rita Miller from the City of Santa Rosa in an in-depth discussion on watershed management. | CASA Joins League of Cities to File Amicus in Public Records Act Case |

| Emails: public or private? |
On July 22, CASA joined the League of California Cities (League) in filing an amicus brief with the California Supreme Court in
City of San Jose v. Smith. This is a Public Records Act (PRA) case where the court will determine whether certain private emails and other electronic communications of public officials are subject to disclosure under the PRA. The Supreme Court granted review back in June of 2014, but is only now accepting amicus briefs in the case.

Grant Would Fund Biosolids Research for Land Reclamation

CASA has formed an expert research team and submitted a pre-proposal to the Water Environment Research Foundation in response to a request for unsolicited research projects. The research would seek to quantify the benefits of biosolids for the purpose of reclaiming fire-ravaged land and reducing the potential severity of future fires. Read more… |

 The deadline for the October 10 Wastewater exam is August 11, 2015. All applications must be received in the Wastewater Operator CertificationProgram’s office by August 11 to be considered. For questions, email the Wastewater Operator Certification Unit or call (916) 341-5819, option 2. Visit the state’s website to learn more about the program.
The National Water Quality Monitoring Council has released a call for papers and awards nominations.
CASA members are invited to submit an abstract for the water-energy nexus session of the 2015 American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting. Deadline to submit the application is August 5.
