The Novato Watershed Program – our latest featured project
The Novato Creek Watershed
drains 45 square miles from its
headwaters above Stafford Lake to
its destiny in San Pablo Bay. The Novato Watershed Program, comprised of people working at Marin County, City of Novato, Novato Sanitary District, North Marin Water District, and the Flood Control Advisory Board have been making substantial progress on their efforts to improve flood protection and sediment management, while enhancing habitat values, reducing dredging costs and adapting to climate change. We are featuring their work on our website here.
Meet Brenda Goeden, Sediment Program Manager with the
San Francisco Bay C0nservation and Development Commission
Brenda Goeden has been thinking a
lot about all things sediment for the past 15 years. As Sediment Program Manager for BCDC, she’s had the “honor” (her words) of providing
input on many SFBJV projects – from Bair Island and the South Bay Salt Ponds, to Cullinan Ranch and Lower Novato Creek through the Flood Control 2.0 program. When not solving the jigsaw puzzle of how all
the various considerations go
together involving sediment and projects in the Bay, she is often volunteering to rehab birds or volunteering for the Farallones Marine Sanctuary conducting monthly wildlife and beach condition surveys at Drakes Beach. Our shout out this month goes to Brenda Goeden, for her clear and sincere dedication to seeing the big picture and helping to move wetland restoration projects forward all over San Francisco Bay.
Thank you Brenda!! You can read a more complete bio on her here.
