The 7th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) met in San Francisco for a two-day conference where high-level delegates from all over the world discussed the advancement of clean energy policy and technology. Tom Steyer, a billionaire that is dedicated to promoting the transition to a clean energy economy, was in attendance and said that the Bay Area will play a key role in this movement. The convention consisted of presentations from energy experts from around the world and a showcase of promising startups and potential solutions to our energy problems.

The Ministerial has several goals including engaging key private-sector partners. It is important that people like Steyer, who made his fortune as a hedge fund manager, as well as businesses and industries alike take an interest in environmental and energy policy. It is impossible to effectively make progress on our environmental and energy issues without the most powerful entities of the private-sector onboard.

The Bay Planning Coalition (BPC) and its members, many of which are energy providers, work regularly with government and environmental organizations to push for policies that promote sustainable industry and to amend laws that are no longer relevant to our current situation. Bringing together leaders from all stakeholders in the Bay is the only way that we can thoroughly explore the issues we face and the risks and consequences that confront each organization specifically.

— “The Bay Planning Coalition is a non-profit organization well known for its advocacy and credibility in the San Francisco Bay Area corporate and environmental community. When we speak about an issue, legislators and regulators listen.”
