This morning, Chevron’s Richmond Refinery released a message to regarding a new program to citizens in the Richmond area, please see below for the complete message.

October 30, 2015

Dear Richmond Neighbor:

At Chevron Richmond we recognize that having an open dialogue between the refinery and our neighbors promotes greater mutual understanding, respect, and trust.  That’s why we wanted to make sure you’re aware of a brand new program we’ve just launched to spark a renewed conversation about the community we share.

We’re calling our program “the real Richmond,” a reflection of our strong view that this is a city better defined by shared progress and possibilities than by its challenges. In framing the approach, we’re motivated by the sense of opportunity we see just about everywhere – from the ongoing success of the Regional Occupational Program (ROP), to the new Fab Lab at Kennedy High School to, of course, our newer, safer, cleaner Refinery Modernization Project.

As part of the effort, we’re going to be airing a series of video messages on the subject, as well as launching a new website at TheRealRichmond.com<http://cts.vresp.com/c/?ForRichmond/3c7b5ad529/5f43c8c88f/27554d8447> that describes our viewpoint and shares what we are doing to make an economic, social, and environmental difference in the community.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.  After all, in the real Richmond, neighbors are always interested in each other’s point of view.  Please email your comments, feedback, and ideas to conversation@therealrichmond.com<mailto:conversation@therealrichmond.com>. Or call us at 510-242-2000.

Sincerely,

Patty Canessa

Richmond Refinery Public Affairs Manager
