Prop 1 deadlines coming up!

Deadlines for the first round of Prop 1 funding are fast approaching!  Anyone hoping to receive a letter of support from the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture should be in touch with our Coordinator, Beth Huning as soon as possible.

California Department of Fish & Wildlife Restoration Grants Program and Delta Quality and Restoration grants are due on the 16th of September while applications for the State Coastal Conservancy watershed and ecosystem protection projects funding as well as the Wildlife Conservation Board California Stream Flow Enhancement program are due on September 30th.

GRANTS with deadlines 

By September 16

Proposition 1 Restoration Grant Programs
These funds available through the California Dept of Fish and Wildlife from the voter approved Prop 1 of November 2014 are now soliciting applications.

By September 24
California Sea Grant 
This NOAA funded program matches highly motivated and qualified graduate students and recent graduates with “hosts” in State or Federal agencies in California for a 12-month paid fellowship ($3,600 per month).

By September 30
Proposition 1 Funding – State Coastal Conservancy 

The first of four solicitation rounds for these funds intended to “Protect Rivers, Lakes, Streams, Coastal Waters and Watersheds” for fiscal years 2015/2016 will be followed by more at the end of December, March and June. 

Proposition 1 California Stream flow Enhancement Program
These Wildlife Conservation Board funds will be awarded to programs that provide support for anadromous fish; support for special status, threatened, endangered or at risk species; provide wildlife corridors; provide resilience to climate change.

By November 1
National Estuarine Research Reserve Graduate Research Fellowship Program

This is one of the largest graduate programs supported by NOAA whereby fellows conduct research within a National Estuarine Research Reserve and gain hands-on experience with reserve staff and participate in their host reserve’s research, education, stewardship and training programs. Includes a stipend of $20,000.

By November 2
FY2016 Community-based Marine Debris Removal

This program provides funding to support locally-driven, marine debris prevention, assessment, and removal projects that will benefit coastal habitat, waterways, and NOAA trust resources.

By November 5
North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) Small Grants Program

Projects in the Small Grants program must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats for the benefit of all wetlands-associated migratory birds.  Anyone within the JV region considering applying should contact Beth Huning, SFBJV Coordinator.
