Assembly Bill 1331, as amended Aug. 26, would enact the Climate Change Response for Clean and Safe Drinking Water Act of 2014. The proposed bond is based on a framework developed by a working group of nine Assembly Democrats headed by Assembly Member Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood).

Court OKs Trinity River Water Releases for Salmon

A federal judge ruled this week that the Bureau of Reclamation can continue releasing additional water from the Trinity Reservoir in an effort to avoid a widespread die-off of salmon in the Klamath River.

Local water districts and San Joaquin Valley farmers filed suit earlier this month to halt the cold-water releases, claiming it would harm Central Valley irrigators that are already hard hit by low water allocations. U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill temporarily halted the releases last week to hear from biologists before his final ruling.

Public comment on the proposed MCL begins Aug. 23 when the Office of Administrative Law publishes the proposal on its website. The proposal will be circulated for a 45-day comment period.
