Dubbed the Northern Waterfront Economic Development Initiative, it would collaborate with stakeholders to create a strategic plan for the Contra Costa waterfront from Richmond to Oakley, county Supervisor Federal Glover said in a news release.
The report, drafted by the county Department of Conservation and Development, focuses on the developable parts of the waterfront. It excludes parks, open space and wetlands, which together take up about 60 percent of the waterfront.
With its refineries and other industrial plants, the waterfront historically has been the industrial and manufacturing center of the county, said Glover, whose district stretches from Pinole to Antioch and covers much of the Contra Costa waterfront.
The supervisors meets in Room 107 of the county Administration Building, 651 Pine St., Martinez. The waterfront initiative discussion is scheduled for sometime between 10:45 a.m. and noon.”
