CASA, ACWA and WateReuse California Submit Joint Comments on Proposed Amendments to the Recycled Water Policy Addressing Constituents of Emerging Concern

On October 9, 2012, CASA joined the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and WateReuse California in submitting comments regarding proposed amendments to the State Water Resources Control Board’s 2009 Recycled Water Policy.  The amendments, slated for adoption at the Water Board’s October 16, 2012 meeting, address monitoring of constituents of emerging concern (CECs) in recycled water used for groundwater recharge and landscape irrigation.  The policy changes are intended to implement the recommendations of the expert panel formed in 2010 to provide a scientifically sound foundation for CEC monitoring requirements. The letter commends Water Board staff for preparing a proposed Amendment consistent with the original intent of the Policy and expert panel recommendations for CEC monitoring. The associations expressed general support of the recommended amendments but requested several clarifying changes.  Review the letter for further information.
