No on Prop 53 has launched their first TV ads today, featuring firefighters throughout the state. More than 250 public safety, local government, family farmers, business, labor and environmental leaders have joined in opposition against Prop 53, including the Bay Planning Coalition.
Prop 53 allows residents in faraway regions — like San Diego or LA — to reject some local projects your community needs and supports. Prop 53 threatens local control, and jeopardizes community infrastructure.
And, as firefighters across the state have warned, Prop 53 contains no exemptions for emergencies or natural disasters, which means critical repairs to rebuild roads, hospitals, and water systems following a disaster could be delayed up to two years.
