FY 13 Maritime Budget Hearings

House – hearing on FY 2013 maritime budget request – The Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure conducted a hearing on the Administration’s FY 2013 Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation budget request. The request includes $9.96 billion for the Coast Guard (a decrease of 5.7% from the FY 2012 level); $26 million for the Federal Maritime Commission (an increase of $7.9%); and $344 million for the Maritime Administration (a decrease of 1.6%). Admiral Bob Papp, Commandant, US Coast Guard defended the USCG budget request. The Honorable Richard A. Lidinsky, Jr., Chairman, Federal Maritime Commission, defended the FMC budget request. The Honorable David T. Matsuda, Maritime Administrator, defended the MARAD budget request. A press release was issued following the hearing.
