Delta Smelt Resiliency Strategy

As part of the 2017 Delta Smelt Resiliency Strategy action for enhanced aquatic weed control, the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is conducting herbicide treatments of submersed aquatic vegetation (SAV) in two Delta locations, Little Hastings Tract and Decker Island. Herbicide treatments of SAV in these sites began during the week of June 5, 2017 and will continue for 16 consecutive weeks. The enhanced weed control study plan involves a multi-agency partnership between the California Department of Water Resources, DBW, UC Davis, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The study aims to understand effects of SAV herbicide treatment on delta smelt habitat, water quality, and the food web.
