Bands Announced for PortFest Oct. 1

Two popular regional bands have been announced for PortFest Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Port of Redwood City.
◾ “The Hitmen” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
◾ “Sonic Addiction” 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Sonic Addiction covers some of your favorite party tunes from any and every decade,
The Hitmen have been performing together for more than 20 years. They play a variety of hits from the 70s to modern day favorites and Latin songs. Over the years, they’ve created and perfected their own style of medleys, playing several songs in a row that segue from one to another without skipping a beat. http://www.thehitmen.com/

- Boat rides on the Sea Scout vessel “Gryphon” starting at 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dock “E” – look for the Gryphon banner. Space and number of rides are limited. Visit Sea Scout booth across from fishing pier early in the day to check on availability.
- Marine Science Institute Shark Tank and Marine Touch Table Display, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- San Mateo County History Museum Woodside Store Interactive Logging Exhibit, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., opposite fishing pier
- Redwood City Fire Department Engine & Boat Display at parking area 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Port Commission Elects Officers

The Port Commission has elected officers for the next year:
- Simms Duncan, Chairman
- Richard Dodge, Vice Chairman
- Lorianna Kastrop, Secretary
Duncan is a Vice President of Project Finance with Hanwha Q Cells, USA in Irvine, CA. He was appointed to his first term with the Port Commission in August, 2014. Before joining Hanwha

in 2011, Duncan was Managing Director of Corporate Business Development at Applied Materials, leading that company’s strategic transactions in the solar industry.
Dodge, who originally was appointed in 1980 and reappointed seven times since, is one of the longest current consecutive serving port commissioners in the United States. Dodge’s current term expires July 2018. Dodge has owned and operated THE Office City since 1976, turning it into one of the

Kastrop was first appointed to the Port Commission in June of 2008 and reappointed in 2012 and June 2016. She was the second woman in the history appointed to the commission and the first woman to serve as Chair of the commission. She is vice-president of The Kastrop
