California Water Commission Approves SGMA Basin Boundary Emergency Regulations

The California Water Commission Wednesday approved the California Department of Water Resources’ emergency regulations for modifying groundwater basin and subbasin boundaries. The regulations must be processed by the Office of Administrative Law but are expected to take effect Jan. 1, 2016 as required by SGMA.

ACWA Officer Elections, Approval of Bylaws Amendments Set for General Session

Elections for ACWA president and vice president for the 2016-’17 term are set for Dec. 2 at ACWA’s 2015 Fall Conference & Exhibition in Indian Wells.

The ACWA Nominating Committee, headed by chair Paul Kelley, has announced a slate that recommends current ACWA Vice President Kathleen Tiegs for ACWA president and ACWA Region 2 Board Member Brent Hastey for ACWA vice president.

The vote will take place during the General Session Membership Meeting immediately following the luncheon program. The session is expected to begin at 1 p.m.

Californians Must Prepare for Winter Floods While Still Conserving Water

Californians should prepare for floods this winter if El Niño materializes as experts expect, but must continue to conserve water too.

That was the message delivered by several state officials today during a press conference to honor the launch of 2015 California Flood Preparedness Week. Officials cautioned that the possibility of extreme weather this winter brings the need for heightened flood emergency preparation. But residents should continue to conserve water, as massive rains won’t necessarily end California’s drought woes.

ACWA Issues RFQ for Interconnection Services

ACWA is seeking to augment its Preferred Provider Program by adding an electric utility interconnection service support provider who can assist ACWA members in connecting their distributed generation electric projects to the electric utility grid.
