Draining of SVCW’s

Landscape Impoundment Ornamental Ponds Delayed

Silicon Valley Clean Water

The story below was released last Friday, July 10.  The work has been postponed while we investigate options related to the impact on the water fowl.

I want to inform you that in order to provide adequate geotechnical data for our investigation of the California Environmental Impact Act (CEQA) options for our forcemain (the pipe that carries raw sewage to the treatment plant) replacement project, it is necessary for us to drain the Landscape Impoundment Ornamental ponds in front of the plant (1400 Radio Road in Redwood Shores) once again.

This is the area that is popular for bird-watching.

We are starting the process this weekend and expect they will be dry enough to start the work in about a month or so. Once the geotechnical investigation is complete, we anticipate we will fill them again.  The exact timing of this is not known, but our best estimate today is somewhere between 60 and 90 days of draining, drying and work before we can bring water back.

If you should have any questions or comments, please feel free to call or email Duane Sandul at 650-585-2181, duanesandul@gmail.com, and he will get answers for you.
