ACWA Launches New Local Drought Response Web Portal
New Interactive Card Feature Replaces Drought Map
As local water agencies take action to respond to a fourth year of historic drought, ACWA has launched a new interactive web portal to showcase the plethora of local agency drought response activities by ACWA members statewide. The new portal allows water agencies to highlight actions in five categories and replaces the drought response map that was widely used in 2014 to track mandatory and voluntary conservation efforts.
The portal is linked to ACWA’s Drought Spotlight page and can be accessed directly at http://droughtresponse.acwa.com.
Each agency card includes the agency’s logo, which is linked to its website, a local photo, a short text summary and icons for response actions in the categories of: Restrictions & Enforcement, Outreach & Education, Rebates & Incentives, New Consumer Tools & Devices, and System / Operational Efficiencies. Each card expands to show a list of actions under each category. While participating agencies must select general actions from a pre-populated list, there is some customization available.
When users visit the portal, agency cards are displayed with the most recently added cards at the top. The interactive card design allows users to sort by program category or by general region. Users also can share cards on their Facebook, Twitter and Google + accounts.
ACWA thanks the 23 ACWA member agencies that have participated in the initial phase of the project in order to launch the portal. Once your survey is received and reviewed, instructions for submitting a local photo of your choice will be sent to the identified agency contact.
