State Water Board Anticipates Revised Draft for Waters of the State Procedures to be Released in May

BPC CEO John Coleman participated in a conference call on February 16th updating interested stakeholders on the State Water Resources Control Board’s (State Water Board) proposal to include a “State Wetlands Definition and Procedures for Discharges of Dredged or Fill Material to Waters of the State” in the forthcoming Water Quality Control Plan for Inland Surface Waters and Enclosed Bays and Estuaries and Ocean Waters of California.  The release of a revised draft for public comment is planned for May 1st with a potential hearing at the State Water Board on June 19th. The issue has moved quickly as the State Water Board reacts to proposed changes in federal standards for wetlands and other waters by the Trump Administration. There is a lot of interest from BPC members on this issue and BPC plans to hold a Waters of the State Expert Briefing on June 14th. Check the BPC website and watch your inbox for more information.
