The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) may soon be facing a lawsuit in regards to the listing of over 400 species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). On August 23, 2016, the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) filed a notice of intent (NOI) to sue the Fish and Wildlife Service for allegedly failing to make required 12-month findings on petitions to list 417 species as threatened or endangered species under the ESA.
USFWS has not yet publicly commented on the NOI.
