This event is for all in the West Coast region with an interest or connection to the coastal and marine management processes. A Planning Team made up of regional marine industry, business, education, government, and non-profit leaders, listed below, have recommended extending you an invitation to a regional Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning-West Coast Training, which will be offered February 17 – 20, 2015 at the Hubbs – Sea World Research Institute in San Diego, CA. Please also feel free to forward this invitation to colleagues or project partners who might have an interest. What: Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning (CMSP) – West Coast Training
When: Tuesday, February 17 through Friday, February 20, 2015 | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Daily

Instructors: Michael Barrett, Battelle Memorial Institute; Kristen Fletcher, Fletcher Coastal Consulting; Virginia Guhin, Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve
Cost*: $300 Standard Registration, $250 for registration before February 1, 2015. This includes the 4-day training instruction and materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and some evening receptions.
*Transportation, lodging and incidentals are at the participants’ expense
The CMSP – West Coast Planning Team’s goal is to bring together a mix of public and private sector representatives interested in gaining a better understanding the process of Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning Training. The training will present a customized curriculum designed by Battelle Memorial Institute with funding provided from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation that focuses on various aspects of the CMSP process and how to communicate broadly with a large, diverse group of decision makers and stakeholders. Networking, communication, and project management are key points in the curriculum.
As a Participant You Will:
- Engage and learn from an all new Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning Curriculum that includes region-specific modules, interactive game-theory based activities, innovative educational approaches, and locally-based field trip.
- Network with professionals from the public and private sectors interested in promoting a CMSP process that is inclusive and that promotes sustainable usage of the coasts and oceans.
- Build the peer-to-peer network whose members have marine and coastal interests on the West Coast, and join the national peer-to-peer CMSP network from other regional and CMSP-Online trainings.
