Working with Nature (WwN) in Navigating the New Millennium Sunday, June 1

This full day course will include an introduction to Working with Nature; international examples from Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, the United States, and elsewhere; the use of natural and nature-based features in coastal systems; post-hurricane Sandy experiences; strategic placement of dredged material; building environmental features into coastal structures; managing contaminants in dredged material for beneficial use; as well as multi-organization discussion panels on the long-term management strategy for dredged material in San Francisco, partnerships and innovative financing, and overcoming impediments and accelerating progress on Working with Nature.

Marina Designers Training Program: Modern City Marinas Sunday, June 1 (see attached flier for details)

This course follows the model developed successfully with the PIANC Marina Designers Training Program by presenting key international advances in design of recreational navigation infrastructures, mooring and sheltering, from small boats to large vessels (super/mega yachts).  Modern marinas offer an opportunity for urban waterfronts and can add value to real estate enriching urban landscapes.  The course will cover these main themes: Marina Planning and Configuration, Mega Yachts Facilities, Dry Stack Storage, Land Facilities, Environmental Aspects and Aesthetics/Landscaping.
