Sometime this year Marin ferry riders will essentially have a new boat plying the bay’s waters.
The 715-passenger M.S. San Francisco is currently in a shipyard near San Diego undergoing a $20 million renovation.
“It’s a complete rebuild of the M.S. San Francisco,” said Denis Mulligan, general manager of the Golden Gate Bridge District, which oversees ferry service. “We have a contract to strip it down to the bare hull and re-do everything on the inside.”
