Chevron U.S.A. Inc. Donates Easement to Extend Bay Trail Access at Point Molate

Public access on the San Francisco Bay Trail at Point Molate Beach Park will now be extended thanks to a recreational trail easement donated by Chevron U.S.A.

The approximate one-mile easement will provide unprecedented multi-use public trail access along the historic shoreline extending from the foot of the eastern shore of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge to Point Molate Beach Park.

Chevron was proud to announce the donation of the recreational trail easement to the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) on Wednesday. Park district representatives said Chevron’s easement is key to extending the Bay Trail along the Point Molate Shoreline.

“Refinery officials have been tremendous partners in moving this plan forward, which will provide the public a huge benefit in being able to experience the gorgeous views,” said Robert Doyle, EBRPD General Manager.

Chevron’s easement will help complete portions of the Bay Trail along the shoreline of the Point San Pablo Peninsula. It will also pave the way for a planned regional park at Point Molate that will help connect the Bay Trail to future segments in Richmond and Marin, as outlined in the Park District’s Master Plan.

The extended trail will be designed as close to the original corridor alignment as possible in order to provide safe use of the trail and maximize public access to the expansive views along the Point Molate Shoreline.

Chevron is proud to provide this important link to the Point Molate Beach Park and to enhance the overall San Francisco Bay Trail network. Not only does the easement provide the public new access to the beautiful Richmond shoreline in Point Molate but it continues Chevron’s important partnership with the East Bay Regional Park District.
