American Iron and Steel (AIS) Requirements for SRF Funded Projects
The federal appropriations bill includes an American Iron and Steel (AIS) requirement for the state Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund programs for federal Fiscal Year 2014. On March 21, 2014, the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) released its guidance on how to comply with the AIS requirements, as well as the process for requesting waivers. The attached update from the State Water Resources Control Board provides additional information on the state’s implementation of this requirement.
SRF program staff will participate in a small group session during the CASA Public Policy Forum to present information on the low interest loan program and answer questions regarding the program requirements, including the American Iron and Steel mandate.
