With Strong CASA Support, Pharmaceutical Stewardship Legislation Passes First Hurdle
|
Senate Bill 1014 by Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson passed out of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee on March 26. The measure would require producers of pharmaceuticals to create, finance and manage a collection system for California consumers to safely and conveniently dispose of unused and expired medications. CASA was among the many witnesses offering testimony in the Committee to urge passage of the bill.

State Water Board Releases Draft Regulations to Streamline and Clarify Petition for Review Process
|
On March 7, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to improve the process for petitions for review of regional water board actions. Since early 2013, CASA has been working with the State Water Board to develop and refine regulations to establish a timeframe within which the State Water Board is required to commence its consideration of a petition for review of a regional water board’s action or failure to act. Currently, neither statute nor regulation establish a timeframe within which the State Water Board is required to commence its consideration of a petition for review. Read More.

In just one month CASA will be hosting key legislative leaders at its first annual Sacramento Public Policy Forum.
