B.) Meeting on Brazilian Ports and Dredging:
As some of you may know, last year, Michael Gerhardt (DCA) had arranged, on behalf of the WEDA Eastern Chapter, a discussion on “Doing Business in Latin America: Port Infrastructure Development and Dredging Opportunities” at the Eastern Chapter meeting. As a follow up to that, the Brazilian Ministry is now inviting U.S. dredging contractors, consultants, engineers, academics, port users/investors and other related parties, to attend a discussion on their 2nd National Dredging Program at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. on Friday, April 4th at 9:30 am. (See attached invitation). The session will be led by Brazil’s Minister of Ports, Antonio Henrique Pinheiro Silveira. Other government officials and stakeholders are expected to attend as well to discuss: (a) New regulatory framework for Brazilian ports (which opens the door to private investment), and (b) Brazil’s upcoming dredging program.
This is a great opportunity to learn first-hand about Brazil’s dredging needs, and I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. Please RSVP to Luciana Rocha-Goldman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you intend to attend, and please copy me (email@example.com) and Michael Gerhardt (firstname.lastname@example.org) as well.
