House – USCG authorization bill advances

The Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2014 (H.R. 4005) to authorize appropriations for the Coast Guard for fiscal years 2015 and 2016, and for other purposes was approved by the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, but not before amendment.  An En Bloc Amendment by Representative Hunter (R-CA) was approved.  Among other things, this amendment would allow the Secretary to enter into cooperative agreements to develop an enhanced LORAN system; would treat the minimum tonnage for certain exports of agricultural commodities as 75%; and would require a report on the impact of requiring LNG exports to be carried on US vessels.  The bill now goes to the House floor for consideration.  (2/6/14 – Bryant’s Maritime)
