BPC Discusses Sea Level Rise Planning with BCDC and Other Groups

On October 3, BPC met with staff and Commissioners of the Bay Conservation and Development Commission, and representatives from the Bay Area Council, East Bay Economic Development Alliance, Silicon Valley Leadership Group, and others, to discuss Sea Level Rise and climate change adaptation and planning. BPC stressed the need for funding and planning for the beneficial reuse of dredged sediment in order to develop and enhance wetlands and levees as a way to protect shoreline and near-shore assets around the Bay, and cited the economic importance of shoreline business and industry to the overall vitality and economy of the Bay Area.
