State Water Board Proposes Increase in Regulatory Fees
At its September 24, 2013 meeting, the State Water Resource Control Board will consider increasing the annual fees paid by entities with NPDES permits and waste discharge requirements (WDRs). The proposed emergency fee regulations call for an across the board 4.1 percent increase in NPDES permit fees and a 27.4 percent increase in WDR fees. The fee increases are proposed in response to the state budget adopted by the Legislature. By statute, the annual fees must conform to the revenue levels set forth in the Budget Act, which requires the State Water Board to increase fees by $18.9 million to reach the budget level.
Comments on the proposed fees are due September 19, 2013 by Noon. The staff report provides additional background and information on the proposed fee schedule.
