Another Example of CEQA Misuse:

North Beach Library, San Francisco

A message from the CEQA Working Group:

Today we’ve released the thirteenth case study in our weekly series profiling examples of misuses of CEQA: the North Beach Public Library Reconstruction. In this case, a special interest group used CEQA in an attempt to block the retrofit of a playground and seismically-unsafe and non-ADA compliant library building. The suit caused over a year of delay and cost $800,000 in attorney’s fees and legal costs- all borne by taxpayers.
