CalDesal Honors Assembly Member Isadore Hall, lll as 2012 Legislator of the Year
Sacramento – CalDesal has presented its Legislator of the Year Award to Assembly Member Isadore Hall, III (D-Los Angeles) for his work in advancing desalination in 2012.
Hall was honored for his leadership in supporting desalination in the Legislature and his commitment to addressing issues faced by proponents of ocean desalination projects, according to CalDesal Chair Shawn Dewane. Hall’s efforts helped improve lines of communication between project proponents and the state’s permitting agencies, Dewane noted, and also resulted in greater coordination among the permitting agencies.
“Assembly Member Hall was a great champion for ocean desalination in 2012 and helped educate a lot of legislators about the current landscape for ocean desalination in California,” Dewane said. “Thanks to his persistence and diplomacy, we were able to build support and recognition that desalination is an important local water resources option that will indeed be a viable part of the state’s future water supply portfolio.
“We are pleased to recognize Assembly Member Hall as CalDesal’s Legislator of the Year for 2012.”
The award was presented to Hall’s representative on April 5 at the Community Leaders’ Briefing on Water Supply Issues cosponsored by CalDesal and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
CalDesal is a statewide association formed to advance the use of environmentally responsible water desalination and salinity management in California.
