The State Water Board is planning to hold an informational item at its April 9, 2013 Board meeting on next steps related to the draft report prepared by the State Water Board’s consultant Dr. Brock Bernstein summarizing three Bay-Delta technical workshops held in the fall of 2012 in support of the comprehensive review and update of the Water Quality Control Plan for the San Francisco Bay/Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Estuary (Bay-Delta Plan).  At the informational item Dr. Bernstein will provide a brief summary of his report.  Dr. Peter Goodwin, Lead Scientist for the Delta Stewardship Council’s Science Program, will then provide recommendations for next steps.  Following the presentations, the Board will receive public comments on this matter and may provide direction to staff on next steps related to the comprehensive review of the Bay-Delta Plan.  The Board meeting notice for the informational item will be available in the near future and will provide the deadline for receipt of written comments.  The State Water Board is specifically not requesting comments on the individual workshop summaries in the draft report, but instead input on next steps in this process related to the overall summary provided at the outset of the draft report.

The draft Workshop Summary Report and other information concerning the workshops and the State Water Board’s review of the Bay-Delta Plan can be found at: http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/waterrights/water_issues/programs/bay_delta/comp_review.shtml.  The Board meeting agenda for this informational item will be available at http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/board_info/calendar/index.shtml no later than 10 days prior to the Board meeting.
