VIX at Five-Year Low & 2013 High, All in the Same Week
*With a relatively positive run for equity markets and not much in the way of volatility, the CBOE volatility index, or VIX, started this week at more than a five-year low.
*Before the week was out, however, the VIX soared more than 20 percent to rise to its highest level of the year.
