The Bay Planning Coalition (BPC) will be holding a Ballast Water Briefing on Thursday June 7th in downtown Oakland from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m.. The Briefing will facilitate dialogue between stakeholders in the maritime and water / wastewater industries on ballast water regulations, treatment capabilities, environmental and economic impacts with the California.
The standards for California will be more stringent than the US EPA and Coast Guard, and this has raised concern within the maritime industry. The Briefing aims to answer some of the following questions: What are the policies, regulations, technology and economics of ballast water treatment?
