Measure AA Update

Progress continues on the distribution of funds for wetland restoration established by Measure AA, a BPC-supported ballot measure passed in 2016. The related funds are expected to total $500 million over the next 20 years and are being distributed by the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority. Local public media outlet KQED has been posting stories about some of the initial projects that have received money from the initiative. Among them are an effort to protect rare sand dunes in Alameda, the South Bay Salt Ponds Restoration Project, and construction of a new levee and flood gates to protect the small town of Alviso from San Francisco Bay waters.
