August 3, BPC submitted a letter to Assemblymember Jim Frazier (11th District) in support of AB 2441 – Abandoned Commercial Vessel Removal Funding. Members of BPC’s Marinas and Boatyards Committee have expressed concerns on the issue of abandoned and derelict vessels, including the lack of sufficient funding for removal. Abandoned vessels impact water quality as well as impede navigability of waterways. AB 2441 will establish a stable source of funding by utilizing rental revenues from state property within the five Delta counties (including Contra Costa and Solano counties) to remove abandoned and derelict commercial vessels.
AB 2441 will be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee on August 8, 2018.
