The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is seeking community-based organizations, not-for-profit organizations, non-government organizations or faith-based organizations to assist MTC in reaching out to and engaging members of their communities to participate in the update of Plan Bay Area.

One objective of the planning process for Horizon and Plan Bay Area 2050 is to provide ample opportunity for low-income communities, limited-English proficient communities, disability communities and communities of color to provide input on critical issues related to how the Bay Area grows, where housing is located to accommodate future population growth, and the transportation network necessary to support the needs of all residents. MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) are particularly interested in partnering with following organizations:
  1. Organizations in communities with a) high concentrations of poverty, b) high concentrations of air pollution, and/or c) high probability for housing growth and development (which could cause displacement of long-time residents) in order to create a dialogue with the residents in those communities;
  2. Organizations that work with individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP);
  3. Media organizations that target reporting that covers issues of low-income residents;
  4. Organizations working with local constituents on issues surrounding growth and development; and
  5. Organizations working with persons with disabilities and the needs of seniors.
MTC and ABAG are seeking to tap into the expertise and relationships of organizations that are already active in these communities and enlist their assistance in engaging their community residents. Organizations will be asked to attend meetings with MTC and ABAG staff; coordinate and participate in meetings and/or events; and promote and inform their communities about the Horizon initiative and Plan Bay Area 2050.

MTC’s Request for Proposals (RFP)  can be found on the MTC procurement websitehttps://mtc.bonfirehub.comPlease share this email with your network and any organizations that you believe might be interested.
