BPC Prepares to Engage on AB-617

In 2017, the California State Legislature passed AB-617 and in effect established the Community Air Protection Program (CAPP), which aims to mitigate air quality related health risks at the community level. In accordance with CAPP, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) will be submitting its final selections for candidate communities for consideration to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on July 31. BPC plans to engage on this topic, and will be developing its approach at a joint committee meeting on July 11 between the Resources & Infrastructure and Legislative & Regulatory committees. This meeting is where we will also discuss and establish our overall approach to getting involved in air quality regulation issues.
