BPC Continues Advocacy Around Limited Richmond Outer Harbor Dredging Schedule

As we reported in ourĀ November Newsletter, Douglas W. Lamont, the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) recently provided a response to a letter sent in September by Rep. Mark DeSaulnier and Rep. Mike Thompson regarding the limited dredging schedule of the Richmond Outer Harbor and the Pinole Shoal that was announced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) last year. Since then, BPC has continued our dialogue with stakeholders on all sides of the issue, and we hope to be able to announce additional developments soon. One way we have engaged with this issue in December is by attending the December 13 meeting of the Dredged Material Management Office (“DMMO”), where dredging of the Richmond Outer Harbor was an agenda item. Discussion at that meeting did not relate directly to addressing the topic of the limited dredging schedule, but provided some helpful information that we can use in our advocacy moving forward.
