The Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) recently conducted mechanical harvesting of floating vegetation (FAV) in Snodgrass Slough which is located in the north Delta near Walnut Grove.  Harvesting continued until the targeted waterway was sufficiently clear of water hyacinth and water primrose. The DBW coordinated with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge to utilize a portion of their property for FAV spoils. A total 7,900 cubic yards  (4.9 acres) of FAV were removed from the slough between July 10, 2017 and August 1, 2017.
 
 
Herbicide treatment of invasive floating aquatic vegetation began on March 1, 2017, the earliest date the program is permitted to start, in various areas of the Sacramento -San Joaquin Delta. For more information see the Public Notice.
 
 
“Treatment sites and schedules are subject to change based on regulatory requirements, weather conditions, plant growth and movement, waterway traffic, listed fish presence surveys, and other conditions.”
  • Spraying will be conducted during the hours of 7am to 4pm weekly, Monday thru Friday.  
  • Herbicide applications during the treatment period will utilize Glyphosate (Roundup Custom), 2, 4-D (Weedar 64),  and Imazamox (Clearcast).

Since March 1, 2017, approximately
1,710* acres of
water hyacinth, spongeplant and/or water primrose have been treated at 133 sites with 419 total treatments.
