Student Papers Due Friday, October 14, for the 2017 Sediments Conference.

 

This Friday, October 14, is the due date for papers for the Student Paper Competitionbeing conducted at the 2017 Sediments Conference.

Benefits. The primary author of each winning paper will receive:

·         A complimentary, nontransferable conference registration

·         A cash award to assist with travel costs

·         Placement in the program as a poster or platform presentation (if not already placed as a result of having submitted an abstract in response to the Call for Abstracts)

·         Award of commemorative plaque during the Plenary Session

·         Opportunity to include the paper in the proceedings, if desired

Eligibility. The primary author must be a full-time student at the time the paper is submitted. Faculty advisors may be listed as coauthors, but the conference presentation must be made by the student. An individual may submit only one paper for each competition, and winners of student paper competitions at past Battelle conferences are not eligible. A student who already has submitted an abstract to be considered for the conference program may also submit a paper for the competition, on either the same or a different topic.

 

Scope and Review Criteria. Papers may be submitted on any topic within the general scope of the conference. Review criteria will include originality of the research, thoroughness of the technical approach, validity of data interpretation, readability, and relevance to the overall scope of the conference. 

 

Registration

Register for the Conference by November 1 and save $70 on the Industry level technical program fee. Technical program registrants receive admission to platform and poster sessions as well as exhibits, meals, and breaks. In addition, each person registering for the technical program will receive the proceedings, which will be available in digital form after the Conference.

Register for a short course by November 1 to save $75 on 4-or 8-hour courses and to help ensure that your preferred course will continue. Ten courses are currently scheduled and you can view the description for each course here. Courses with low registration levels after November 1 may be canceled.
