Distributed Generation Remains Hot Topic in Sacramento  

Last week, bills designed to establish new state climate change targets and outline the future of the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) program (AB 645 and SB 350), passed their respective policy committee hearings in the Senate and Assembly.

Particularly interesting were amendments taken in the Assembly Utilities and Commerce Committee on SB 350, which will allow for local, publicly owned utilities to procure onsite generation to serve local electricity needs. Read more…

Federal Drought Legislation Proposes New Funding for Water Recycling 

On July 8, Representative Jared Huffman introduced the Drought Recovery and Resilience Act of 2015 (H.R. 2983). The legislation is a product of extensive discussion with stakeholders, including CASA, on how to facilitate the development of water recycling projects in drought-stricken regions. CASA was part of a coalition of water associations that sent a letter of support for the proposed legislation prior to its formal introduction. Read more…
