Richmondtoday kids Supporting Future Innovators
Few factors are more important to the future success of communities than a highly-skilled and well-educated workforce. To succeed in the rapidly changing economy, our students will need to be skilled in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Chevron and the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) are partnering to provide students and teachers with access to the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Chevron is committed to supporting programs that expand access to high-quality education throughout Richmond and West County. In 2014, Chevron contributed more than $2 million to support students and teachers in local schools. These funds helped 18,708 students.

tongji Meet Our EmployeesThis month we are happy to introduce Tongji Li, who works as an Oronite Development Program Engineer at the Richmond Technology Center. Tongji’s team develops performance-enhancing additives for the lubricating oils and transportation fuels used in cars, trucks, ships and more. Outside of work, Li helped start the Pinole Middle School Math Club where she helps coach and mentor students to compete in math competitions — and develop a passion for math.

Come for the Juneteenth Celebration, Stay for the BBQ

Charles H. Evans opened CJ’s BBQ and Fish more than 17 years ago in Richmond, where he was born and raised. CJ’s will be serving lunch at the Juneteenth Family Day Parade and Festival at Nichol Park on June 20. Charles believes Juneteenth is an important day in Richmond because it celebrates black history in America and provides an opportunity for the community to come together and have a good time.
