WaterSMART: Drought Resiliency Project Grants for Fiscal Year 2015

The Bureau of Reclamation released two funding opportunity announcements to promote drought contingency planning and resiliency projects. Derived from the $50 millions appropriation Congress provided to help western states, the funding opportunities are a part of a Drought Response Program that supports proactive approaches to drought management.

Funded under the U.S. Department of the Interior’s WaterSMART Program, the two grant programs provide assistance to water users and drought managers to:

  • develop and update comprehensive drought contingency plans Drought Contingency Plans,
  • implement projects that will build long-term resiliency to drought (Drought Resiliency Projects)
  • implement emergency response action
