RE: Likely Chairs of House Committees Announced |
Federal Affairs Committee Members,
Yesterday the House of Representatives Republican Steering Committee announced their recommendations for House of Representatives committee chairs during the 114th Congress. These recommendations still need to be ratified by the full House Republican Caucus. This will be somewhat of a formality and it is highly likely that this list of chairs will be ratified.
As anticipated Congressman Rob Bishop of Utah was tapped to assume the chair of the House Natural Resources Committee, replacing retiring Chairman Doc Hastings of Washington.
Congressman Mike Conaway of Texas will take over at the House Agriculture Committee. He replaces Congressman Frank Lucas of Oklahoma who had to give up his gavel due to House Republican term limit rules for committee chairs.
Other committees of interest to NWRA that will see new leadership due to term limits include: the Ways and Means Committee where Congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin will take the helm, the Small Business Committee where Congressman Steve Chabot from Ohio will chair, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee will be led by Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, and Rep. Tom Price of Georgia will lead the House Budget Committee.
Several key committees will retain the Chairs that served in the 113th Congress. Congressman Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania will continue to lead the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Hal Rogers of Kentucky will keep the gavel at the Appropriations Committee, and Rep Fred Upton of Michigan will retain the Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
A full list of the likely House Committee Chairs for the 114th Congress is below.
