EPA Cleanup & Assessment Grants
These brownfields grants may be used to address sites contaminated by petroleum and hazardous substances.

  • Brownfield Assessment Grants – Municipalities can receive up to $200,000 per site (assessment coalitions can receive up to $600,000) to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct planning and community involvement related to brownfield sites.
  • Brownfield Cleanup Grants – Municipalities & non-profits can receive up to $200,000 to conduct cleanup activities at a specific brownfield site owned by the applicant.

NALGEP Webinar – Tips for Successful Brownfields Grant Proposals
Join National Association of Local Government Environmental Professionals (NALGEP), the Center for Creative Land Recycling (CCLR), the KSU Technical Assistance to Brownfields Communities Program, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology as they share tips and strategies for preparing a successful application.Webinar Date – Thursday, October 30, 2014 | 2pm EST | 11am PST

EPA Environmental Justice Small Grants Program
The EPA is providing funds to support activities designed to empower and educate communities to understand environmental and public health issues and to identify ways to address these issues at the local level. Total funds available: $1.2 million.Application Deadline – December 15, 2014

EDA Regional Innovation Grants
The EDA is accepting applications for three programs that support regional innovation strategies.

  • The i6 Challenge – $8 million available – Aims to commercialize innovations, ideas, intellectual property and research into viable companies.
  • Science and Research Park Development Grants – $5 million available – Goal is to support research hubs and increase regional competitiveness.
  • Cluster Grants for Seed Capital Funds – $2 million available – Funds are intended to create sustainable financing institutions in support of innovation-based startups.

Application Deadline – November 3, 2014

USDA Rural Community Development Initiative
The USDA is making available funds to develop the capacity and ability of qualified private, non-profit community-based housing and community development organizations, low-income rural communities, and federally recognized Native American tribes to undertake projects related to housing, community facilities, or community and economic development in rural areas. Total funds available: $6 million.Application Deadline – November 12, 2014
